In order to asses one's ability to hear, it is necessary to provide a diagnostic hearing evaluation. After collecting information about a patient's medical and health history our Audiologists will first provide a visual inspection of the outer ear and ear canal by otoscopy. After the visual examination the patient will undergo a standard hearing evaluation. This testing is carried out in a sound treated environment that meets established national standards for clinical testing. The patient will listen for the presence of very soft pure tone signals that allow the audiologists to map the lowest level or threshold to determine the extent of the hearing problem.

In addition to threshold testing, our Audiologists will use speech material to measure speech recognition or understanding. This is an important part of the total evaluation that will allow our Audiologists to determine the possible benefits of amplification if this is indicated for a particular patient.

After diagnostic testing is complete our Audiologists will be in a good position to discuss with the patient possible options for remediation of a particular communication problem.

In all of our facilities we have the ability to utilize state-of -the art measurement tools to measure hearing aid function and performance. We also have the ability to provide evaluation of the central auditory system, which is best, described as "what the brain does with what the ear hears".

Evaluation can be performed on children through adult ages. When evaluating children, the results and completeness of the evaluation will be determined by the cooperativeness of the child. We have been successful at evaluating children as young as two years old via standard behavioral test batteries.
